Knowing that free, certified courses exist is one thing; actually getting enrolled is another. The good news is that SENA’s process is more straightforward than it looks once you know which platform does what. This guide walks you through enrolling in a free SENA online course in Colombia, step by step, using Betowa — the platform where the educational offer is published and where enrolment happens.
Before you start: get two things ready
You will move much faster if you have these on hand:
- Your identity document number, which the platform uses to validate you.
- A working email address you can access, for your account and confirmations.

Step 1 — Browse the educational offer on Betowa
Go to Betowa (betowa.sena.edu.co) and open the educational offer. Use the filters to narrow by modality (virtual), training level (short complementary vs. technical or technologist), and area of knowledge. This is where hundreds of options become a manageable shortlist.
Step 2 — Read each course’s details carefully
Before choosing, open the course page and check the practical details: duration in hours, entry requirements, and format. A short course may need only basic prerequisites, while technical and technologist programmes ask for more (covered in our requirements guide). Make sure the schedule is realistic for your week — finishing a smaller course beats abandoning a larger one.
Step 3 — Create or log in to your account
Set up your user account on the platform, or log in if you already have one. You will validate your identification document and complete the registration form with your personal details. Use accurate information that matches your official document, since this is what your future certificate will be based on.

Step 4 — Complete and formalise the enrolment
With your account ready, follow the on-screen steps to formalise your enrolment in the chosen course. Depending on the programme and the intake, you may be enrolled directly or placed according to the available quota for that call. Confirm and save any reference or confirmation the platform gives you.
Step 5 — Move into the virtual classroom
Once you are accepted, your studying happens in Zajuna (zajuna.sena.edu.co), SENA’s virtual classroom. There you access materials, complete activities, and communicate with your instructor. Timing: enrol during an open window
You can only enrol while a call is open. SENA runs these in waves, with major windows commonly around January, April, July, and September. If the course you want is between intakes, note the next window and check Betowa again — the wait is usually only a few months.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Paying anyone. The real process is free at every step. A request for payment or card details to “guarantee” a place means you are on the wrong site.
- Mismatched details. Enrolling with a name that does not match your document can cause problems later, including with your certificate.
- Over-committing. Choosing a long programme with no time to study is the most common reason people drop out. Start realistic.
