Enrolling in a free Sence course in Chile is more straightforward than most people expect, but the process has a few steps that are easy to get stuck on if no one has explained them. This guide takes you from the very beginning – not even having a digital identity yet – through to a confirmed place on a course. Follow it in order and you will not miss anything.
Step 1: Get your ClaveUnica
Almost everything in Chile’s state digital services runs through ClaveUnica, a single secure login tied to your RUT. If you do not already have one, this is your first task. ClaveUnica is free and only needs to be created once. In broad terms you request it through the official government channel, verify your identity, and then set a password you will use across public services – including Sence. Keep those details somewhere safe, because you will reuse them every time you log in.
Step 2: Set up your Sence profile
With a ClaveUnica in hand, you can access the Sence platform and complete your profile. This usually means confirming your personal details, your contact information and, in some cases, your work situation. A complete, accurate profile matters: some programmes prioritise certain groups, and the system uses your information to show you courses you are actually eligible for. Take a few minutes to fill everything in properly rather than rushing.

Step 3: Search the course catalogue
Now you can browse the available training. Use filters to narrow by topic, region and format (self-paced e-learning versus scheduled classes). As you search, keep two things in mind. Second, read the course description in full: it lists the duration, the format, any entry requirements, and what the final assessment involves.
Step 4: Check you meet the requirements
Most introductory courses are open to any adult with a RUT, but some have specific criteria – a minimum age, a particular employment status, or a prerequisite skill. Once you are in, treat the course seriously even though it is free. For self-paced e-learning, block out regular study time each week – consistency beats cramming, and many courses have a completion deadline. Most courses end with an assessment, and passing it is what unlocks your certificate of completion.

- Paying a third party to register you. Official enrolment is free; never pay a fee to sign up for state-funded training.
